Young LMU members awarded at DGMP-DGBMT 2017 Meeting

DGMP-DGMBT Annual Meeting 2017:  Recognition for young LMU members

On the occasion of the annual meeting of the DGMP together with the DGBMT (Biomedical Engineering), held from Sept. 10-13 in Dresden, Dr. Thomas Tessonnier (second from left) received the Behnken-Berger award for his Ph.D. Thesis on 'Treatment of low-grade meningiomas with protons and helium ions'. Dr. Tessonnier's work, successfully defended at LMU, has been performed at the Heidelberg University Hospital under supervision of Prof. Dr. Katia Parodi
in the framework of the Clinical Research Group Radiotherapy with Heavy Ions (KFO 214), founded by the German Research Foundation (DFG).

During the same conference, Silvia Liprandi (in the middle) reached a Top-10 position in the (2-staged) DGBMT Student Competition for her conference contribution "Sub-3mm spatial resolution from a large monolithic LaBr3(Ce) scintillator". This work has been performed as part of her ongoing Ph.D. research under supervision of PD Dr. Peter Thirolf in the framework of the DFG-funded Cluster of Excellence Munich Center for Advanced Photonics.
